Let me start this post by proudly and happily announcing to you all guys that I am officially part of the Althea Korea Beauty Ambassador Community — Althea Angels!!! Woohoo! My K-beauty frenzy started last year when my friend and I opened a small online business selling authentic Korean skincare and beauty products. So imagine my excitement when I received an email about being part of an amazing community together with my fellow K-beauty fanatics. And as their welcome gift, Althea Korea gave us the opportunity to be the first to try their latest beauty project in collaboration with Korea's No.1 beauty show, Get It Beauty. I'm sure this is no surprise to you as you may have already seen and read about these products but let me just share to you my own experience with Althea Korea's Real Fresh Skin Detoxers.
The Althea Korea Real Fresh Skin Detoxer is a 2-in-1 product because it serves as a cleanser and a 10-second wash-off mask at the same time. And it comes in two variants: Rose and Green Tea. To use it, simply apply a thick layer on your dry skin and leave it on for ten seconds. After, add a little bit of water and gently massage your face in circular motions. Then, rinse off with water. Quick cleansing routine, right? Now let's get down to each variant.
Rose
The Rose variant is designed to refine the skin. It is made from handpicked French roses to deeply hydrate and refine skin, minimize pores, and soothe redness. It also contains real rose petals to gently exfoliate the skin. The Rose variant is meant to be used as your morning cleanser. What I can say about the Rose variant: First of all, I have to say that this variant is very fragrant and I actually like it. If you're the type who doesn't really like fragrance in their skincare products, then you might want to skip this. But if you're just just plain curious, then I tell you, go for it. The Rose variant is quite okay actually. It makes my skin feel soft and smooth. But what I don't like is I feel like my face is not thoroughly cleaned. I don't know about the others but that's just how I feel. It's quite hard to rinse as well since it can get sticky and slimy.
Green Tea
The Green Tea variant, on the other hand, is designed to purify your skin. It has real green tea leaves from Jeju Island that are rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants to gently exfoliate, purify, and brighten your skin. This variant is meant to be used during the night. What I can say about the Green Tea variant: This was the variant that I was most excited about when I received the package because I am addicted to anything green tea when it comes to skincare. It has a pleasant fragrance that I also like. After removing my makeup with micellar water, I immediately apply this on my skin and do the standard process. I like this variant better because my skin feels really clean after washing my face and it doesn't make my skin tight and dry too.
Overall review:
Both variants were nice but the Green Tea stood out for me. I loved it. I always look forward to my night time routine because of it. However, after using it for only a week, I noticed that I was beginning to have a major breakout again. My skin has been back to normal ever since my Bare Essentials experience (which is also a product of Althea Korea) and now with these Skin Detoxers, I'm experiencing the same thing. I got worried but I still continued using the products for another week just to make sure. And indeed, my breakout worsened so I stopped using it immediately. The next day, I went back to using my HG cleanser and in just two days, my skin went back to normal.I'm honestly sad that these Real Fresh Skin Detoxers didn't work for me because I liked them. But anyway, that's the thing with skincare right? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. So I gave both products to my mom and she's still using it now and she says she loves it. Maybe it just didn't suit my oily, acne-prone, and combination skin after all.
How about you? Have you tried these skin detoxers already? I wanna hear your thoughts! :)
Disclosure: These products were sent to me by Althea Korea as part of the #AltheaAngels welcome gift, however, all opinions stated are mine and experiences shared are genuine.
